Accused Wife Abuser: Pass Violence Against Women Act!

If you’re unlucky enough to be subscribed to the Ohio Democrats listserv, you probably received an interesting email today from U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown regarding the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).  The email goes a little like this:

SherrodVAWA

You’ll have to excuse me if I find Sherrod’s plea to be incredibly disingenuous, ya know, since Sherrod himself beat his then-wife, Larke Ummel Brown, in the 1980’s:

Divorce records from Brown’s first marriage, obtained by Breitbart News, show that during the contentious proceedings, his wife accused him of “extreme cruelty” and “harassment”; she said she was “in fear for the safety … of myself and our children,” and accused Sherrod of “physical violence.” In fact, she said, Brown had “struck and bullied me on several different occasions.”

Of course, Brown isn’t the only Ohio Democrat to use physical violence against his spouse, with former-Congressman Charlie Wilson grabbing his wife by the throat and physically abusing her.

It would be funny if it wasn’t so sad.  Ohio Democrats like Sherrod Brown and Charlie Wilson are physically abusing their spouses–both with a history of laying hands on women and beating them–and yet they expect us to find their support of the VAWA to be genuine?

Here’s an idea: how about you practice what you preach?  Maybe women would actually appreciate your words, if in reality, you didn’t physically beat them?  Just maybe?

Of course, given the absolute hypocrisy of the Ohio Democratic Party, this is just the latest in a string of “do what I say, not what I do.”
