Kasich launches his first presidential campaign ad in NH

Governor Kasich has launched his first ad in New Hampshire. According to Henry Gomez of the Plain Dealer:

Three sources close to the Republican’s team confirmed Wednesday that the buy includes Boston, an expensive market that spills into the first primary state. One source said the overall buy cost more than $1 million.

It’s a big move for a White House hopeful polling at the bottom of the pack in New Hampshire and nationally. And it’s the latest sign that Kasich will marshal a great deal of his early resources to the Granite State with hopes of breaking out from a historically large GOP field that features more than a dozen prominent hopefuls.

The ad buy also could earn Kasich free media coverage in New Hampshire and beyond. Kasich needs to raise his standing in national polls if he wants to qualify for the first Republican presidential debate, scheduled for Aug. 6 in Cleveland.
