President Obama destroys Plunderbund, Democrat criticisms of Kasich’s ODH appointment

obamaIn August, we told you about Ohio Democrats criticizing Governor Kasich’s appointment of Rick Hodges to head the Ohio Department of Health.

The recent news that a nurse infected with Ebola had visited Cleveland and Akron has prompted them to bring the topic back up again. They say that because Rick Hodges isn’t a doctor, that he is unqualified, and we should be worried about the ODH’s response to the Ebola crisis.

Some of you may be worried that the spreading Ebola outbreak landed in Ohio on a Frontier Airlines flight from Texas a few days ago. But have no fears. You can all rest easy knowing that a medical professional with extensive public health experience is guiding our state’s response to the looming Ebola crisis… Right?

The truth is that for heading large departments or coordinating large efforts, you don’t need a medical degree. You need a very competent and organized manager. Someone who knows how to coordinate lots of people and activities. And that’s exactly who Rick Hodges is.

Who else thinks you don’t need to be a doctor to coordinate this effort?

Ohio Democrats’ hero President Barack Obama. CNN reports that he is naming Ron Klain as his “Ebola Czar”.

Washington (CNN) — President Barack Obama will appoint Ron Klain his “Ebola czar,” knowledgeable sources tell CNN.

The president on Thursday signaled his openness to the idea to have one individual coordinating the entire federal response to any threat of an outbreak in the United States.

Klain is highly regarded at the White House as a good manager with excellent relationships both in the administration and on Capitol Hill. His supervision of the allocation of funds in the stimulus act — at the time and incredible and complicated government undertaking — is respected in Washington. He does not have any extensive background in health care but the job is regarded as a managerial challenge.

“He’s strong. He’s very tough,” said CNN Political analyst David Gergen. “It’s important in this job to be a coordinator; you have to knock heads together. He’s tough enough to do that.”

President Obama just bolstered Governor Kasich’s case and completely destroyed the criticisms from Plunderbund, Chris Redfern and every Ohio Democrat criticizing Rick Hodges.

You think they’ll write a post titled “Can Obama’s Unqualified Health Director Save America From The Ebola Crisis?” Do you think Chris Redfern will start making jokes about Ron Klain?

I wouldn’t hold my breath.
