You’ve had 4 months, Paula. Why do you still hate the 12th district?

122 days ago Paula Brooks announced her candidacy against Pat Tiberi.

Amusing, I know.

Back then, we knew she didn’t live in the district she claims she wants to represent.

Apparently, nothing has changed.

For the past four months, Paula Brooks has maintained her home, campaign office, and fundraising firm in the 15th district.

Maybe Mary Jo Kilroy should be getting nervous.

The whole thing is actually pretty amusing. Here is a screen capture of Paula Brooks’ “contact page” from her website:

Wow. Thanks for all the info, Paula. Glad to see you’re making yourself so available to the congressional district you claim you want to represent.

But, fortunately for Ms. Brooks, her logo does ensure she won’t get confused when talking about her candidacy. It tells ya right there which district she wants to represent – just in case Steve Stivers comes knocking on her door to hand out some campaign lit for his race in the 15th.

I mean, seriously….is your campaign staff even trying with this logo?

“Ohio’s 12th District” just looks stuffed in there. It looks ridiculous. I think even my horribly shabby photoshop skills could come up with something better.

But I digress.

Now in all seriousness, it’s a wonder Democrats have put any money into this race.

Their only rationalization? Obama won the 12th district in 2008.

Yeah? Well Tiberi won his district by 13 points in the same election. On top of that, he won by 14 in 2006 and 24 in 2004.

Now consider the downright atrocious political environment for Democrats that we’ve discussed previously, namely the recent poll from the Daily Kos:

Two in five Democratic voters either consider themselves unlikely to vote at this point in time, or have already made the firm decision to remove themselves from the 2010 electorate pool. Indeed, Democrats were three times more likely to say that they will “definitely not vote” in 2010 than are Republicans.

In other words, there is no comprehensible reason why Democrats should consider investing any money, time, or manpower into Brooks’ race.

With that being said, as a former Tiberi staffer and a big fan of Pat’s, let me be the first Republican to plead with Democrat contributors – please give Paula Brooks money.

I want her to at least have some smidgen of legitimacy in her campaign so it becomes easier for Tiberi to raise money for his own efforts.

No, really. Give her money. In fact, I’ll even give you the link. Toss her five or ten. It’ll make me happy.

Thanks. You’re the best.
