Sherrod Brown denies making that Hitler reference that he made on tape

Last Friday we showed you how Ted Strickland thinks you must be an idiot by actually suggesting to gun owners that Barack Obama is a stalwart defender of the 2nd Amendment. This week, it appears to be Sherrod Brown’s turn to run with the “I think you’re stupid” baton.

Remember last year when Sherrod Brown compared Republican governors who were pursuing reasonable public employee union reform to Hitler and Stalin? In case you don’t, here is the video from the Senate floor.

I look back at history and some of the worst governments we’ve ever had, you know one of the first things they did? They went after the trade unions. Hitler didn’t want unions, Stalin didn’t want unions, Mubarak didn’t want independent unions. These, these autocrats in history don’t want independent unions. So when I see, when I see in Egypt, or if I see in, in the old Soviet Russia, or I see – history tells me about Germany – I, I, I’m not, I’m not comparing what’s happening to the workers in Madison or in Columbus to Hitler and Stalin, but I am saying that history teaches us that unions are a very positive force in society that creates a middle class and that protects our freedom.

To quote my cohort Jason Hart, Sherrod claims he’s not comparing Kasich, Walker, and Christie to Hitler, Stalin, and Mubarak in the middle of comparing them to Hitler, Stalin, and Mubarak.

Its also worth noting that a prominent Ohio columnist close to Sherrod Brown has described in outrage those who compared their political opponents to Hitler as “hatemongers”. That person is Connie Schultz, Plain Dealer columnist and wife of the very same Senator Sherrod Brown who compared Scott Walker and John Kasich to Hitler and Stalin. Oops, sorry. She used to be a Plain Dealer columnist, until we busted her for acting as her husband’s political tracker by videotaping Josh Mandel while working for the paper as a supposed “journalist”.

Well, Sherrod apparently thinks that we had forgotten all about his comparison of union reform to mass genocide. Because this morning on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe”, he denied that he said it.

Joe Scarborough: I remember you made an unfortunate reference, comparing Republicans to Nazis.

Sherrod Brown: Well, really, I didn’t.

Really, Sherrod? You didn’t? What’s that video up above, then? Did the 3BP meanies create that with CGI? And, if you didn’t do it, then why did you apologize for it later?

Just like Ted Strickland, Sherrod Brown thinks you’re stupid. Ohio made a big mistake in 2006 when it sent Sherrod Brown to the U.S. Senate. This year, let’s correct that mistake and send Iraq War veteran Josh Mandel to take his place. Josh needs your help to defeat Sherrod Brown and his millions in Big Labor cash.
