Can someone explain to me how these two issues can coexist? From the NYT:
Compounding the strain on the Treasury, almost all the top posts beneath Mr. Geithner are still vacant. Though he has hired about 50 senior advisers — about half the number he hopes to recruit — the White House has become so worried about potential tax problems and other issues in the backgrounds of candidates that it has nominated only a handful of people.
Christina Romer, who heads the White House Council of Economic Advisers, also said Obama has communicated clearly that attacking the deep recession is his top priority.
The economy is the President’s number one priority — so much so that he is reportedly “worn out” from how much he has focused on it.
And yet, his Administration is completely incapable of finding people to fill the slots necessary to run the very Department whose responsibility it is to develop policy that keeps our economy afloat.
Boy, sure makes me glad we hired the energetic, young kid.
