Mary Jo had a bad day.

By now, all of central Ohio has likely seen some semblance of coverage from the huge protest outside Mary Jo Kilroy’s district office yesterday.

The Dispatch was there with its video camera. All the TV news stations. NPR. You name it.

From what I’ve heard, the anti-Obamacare crowd solidly outnumbered the pro-Obamacare crowd. But I’ve also heard multiple accounts about a large number of those pro-Obamacare supporters being SEIU hired guns. Shocker, I know.

Either way, it matters little how many of each showed up.

What’s important is the massive amount of publicity that came with it.

Kilroy hasn’t exactly had the highest profile during her freshman term in Congress. Without question, this protest is the most coverage she has received since the recount ended in 2008.

And it completely surrounded her suspected support of an unequivocally unpopular major policy proposal.

No political professional in their right mind would consider this protest a net positive for Kilroy.

With a voting record that aligns 99% with that of Speaker Pelosi, this protest is helping to frame Kilroy as someone more in line with San Francisco liberals than Columbus Independents.

And her yea vote, whenever it takes place, may very well be the final nail in the coffin of a very short political career.
