As the ‘Twitter files’ scandal continues to bring new information to light, worries increase that the FBI is using private companies as a form of “political arm” and is guilty of censorship.
On Monday’s episode of “Mornings with Maria”, the House Minority Leader, Rep. Kevin McCarthy, informed FOX Business that House Republicans intend to examine the FBI’s cooperation with social media outlets and to hold people accountable.
“Why are they [the FBI] able to do this? Working together, using private businesses to go after individuals right before an election, denying the American public the truth?” he asked.
McCarthy said, “We’re going to do more than just subpoena them. We’re going to change the course of where the FBI is today.”
Since Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter in October, the public has learned to what degree the government has ties with Big Tech.
Writer Matt Taibbi exposed that from 2020-2022 Twitter personnel were in frequent communication with FBI agents.
In the lead-up to the 2020 presidential election, a story concerning Hunter Biden’s laptop spread quickly on Twitter, yet was swiftly blocked by intelligence agents and labeled as Russian disinformation.
McCarthy’s sentiments mirror those of his fellow Republican lawmakers who are determined to reveal the truth when they take command of the House.
