There is a reasonable level of expectation for taxes to be paid. Property taxes are no exception. Schools and local governments are dependent upon property taxes. It’s particularly egregious when an organization that gets funding from taxpayers doesn’t pay its property taxes.
But, that is exactly what Planned Parenthood of Northeast Ohio has done. The taxpayer funded deadbeats owe $202,397.03 according to the Cuyahoga County Auditor’s website.
Those affected the most by these deadbeats are the children in the Bedford Schools. These children are a different type of Planned Parenthood statistic. The organization is stiffing their education.
As the Ohio legislature considers defunding Planned Parenthood at the state level, it’s important to look at how the organization is run. Either incompetence or intentional financial thievery seems to rule at Planned Parenthood of Northeast Ohio. Neither should be rewarded with our tax dollars.
Go fund yourself. And pay your taxes too.
We have learned from the Cuyahoga County Auditor’s office that PPNO just last month got non-profit status.
Guess what? Now the county cannot collect on their delinquent taxes. Outrageous.
The video released by the Center for Medical Progress yesterday turned stomachs throughout the country. Planned Parenthood’s top doctor details how they “crush” babies in a manner that will preserve their most profitable organs which they then traffic.
State Auditor Dave Yost was the first Ohio statewide elected official to speak out on the video. Third Base Politics reached out to him today. He had harsh words for this type of activity and he highlights that it is illegal in Ohio.
“I am sickened, nauseated by the callousness of this videotaped discussion. I would like to reserve judgment — but even Planned Parenthood is not denying that the tape is genuine, only complaining about the editing. It clearly is what it seems to be — a doctor laying out in gruesome detail how to avoid damaging the most valuable parts of a baby during an abortion, and then selling them.
“The fact of the matter is that it is a crime in Ohio to “sell the product of conception that is aborted.” (ORC 2919.14) Planned Parenthood claims they make no money from this practice, that the only money they receive is for “costs.” That’s utter nonsense.
“If a drug dealer “donated” his product in exchange for being paid for his costs, I’d still ask a grand jury to indict him for trafficking in drugs. The sophistry is no more useful when employed by Planned Parenthood. This matter warrants full investigation at both the state and federal levels.”
As Yost states, Planned Parenthood doesn’t complain or deny the doctor detailing how they sell baby parts. Rather, they whined that the video was edited. The way a video is edited has no bearing on the ethical and legal implications of trafficking baby parts.
The bottom line is that this is illegal. And if it is happening in Ohio, it certainly should be prosecuted. As Yost said, ORC 2919.14 is clear on this issue.
(A) No person shall experiment upon or sell the product of human conception which is aborted. Experiment does not include autopsies pursuant to sections 313.13 and 2108.50 of the Revised Code.
(B) Whoever violates this section is guilty of abortion trafficking, a misdemeanor of the first degree.
The Center for Medical Progress has released the unedited video of the conversation which negates any of Planned Parenthood’s concerns regarding slicing of the video.
And remember that Planned Parenthood is taxpayer funded. In fiscal year 2014, they received $1.3 million from the State of Ohio alone. The fact that we are funding this monstrosity makes it even more disgusting.
Undercover video from the Center for Medical Progress has emerged of Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s Senior Director of Medical Services, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, casually discussing how she sells body parts of aborted children for added revenue for the county’s top abortion provider.
Her complete disdain for human life is on full display as she casually enjoys her wine as she speaks about avoiding crushing certain parts of the children during an abortion because she doesn’t want to harm the most profitable organs.
“I’d say a lot of people want liver. And for that reason, most providers will do this case under ultrasound guidance, so they’ll know where they’re putting their forceps. The kind of rate-limiting step of the procedure is calvarium. Calvarium—the head—is basically the biggest part.”
Nucatola explains, “We’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I’m not gonna crush that part, I’m gonna basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact.”
Nucatola also reveals that Planned Parenthood’s national office is concerned about their liability for the sale of fetal parts: “At the national office, we have a Litigation and Law Department which just really doesn’t want us to be the middle people for this issue right now,” she says. “But I will tell you that behind closed doors these conversations are happening with the affiliates.”
This is a federal felony that can result in 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $500,000, but to Planned Parenthood, the risk is well worth the reward.
The Center for Medical Progress has done a three year year long investigation into the Planned Parenthood’s trafficking of body parts. This their first video.
There are many layers of disgust to this story. Of course there is the disgust of the initial action of killing an unborn child. Add in Planned Parenthood acting as a pimp selling body parts of those discarded children. The fact that the State of Ohio gave Planned Parenthood $1.3 million in fiscal year 2014 is the equivalent to throwing a match on this fire. Taxpayers are underwriting this grotesque industry.
These children have no dignity even in death.
While most people couldn’t even think about eating or drinking while speaking of making money off the body parts of children, Planned Parenthood’s top doctor enjoys her glass of wine.
Another day, another dollar, another discarded life. She’ll just have another glass of wine.
Abortion rights activists gathered on the steps of the Ohio Statehouse yesterday to protest abortion restrictions. Instead of making a clear case, they only demonstrated they are tone deaf.
These women brought hundreds of pairs of shoes in an attempt to say that state legislators are “stepping” on their rights. What they failed to recognize is to the average person those ownerless shoes symbolize the children whose lives were snuffed out by abortion, the very act these women are championing.
Abortion is big business. In 2013 alone, 213, 216 children’s lives were taken in the name of choice in Ohio. There is money to be made from ending children’s lives. And there are campaign donations to be received by pro-abortion legislators.
Pro-abortion activists like to tidy up the violence of abortion by spinning it as a choice. But they choose to ignore that abortion hurts many women. All decisions come at a cost and many women later are burdened by their decisions.
What is lost among these women’s poorly scripted and coordinated boos is the fact that abortion hurts women. Many women are simply exchanging the “convenience” of abortion with the guilt of that decision later on in their lives. That deferred pain is real to these women.
I am not ashamed to say I am pro-life. I was vocally opposed to abortion as soon as I realized what it is. Because of this, women sometimes seek me out to confess they had an abortion years prior. These women are not so much saddled with the stigma, but they are consumed with guilt years later. This is something I never expected when I was young, but these women who have spoken with me seem to want their pain to be acknowledged by someone who advocated for their child’s life. Their pain is as real as the tears which burst from their eyes as they attempt to come to terms with their decisions.
One woman told me after she married and gave birth for the first time she realized what she had done to her own child in the name of choice. She was burdened with the thought that her love for her child was conditional. It was conditional to the timing of conception and finances. This was very hard for her overcome. She stated that when she looked at her child she was reminded of the one whose life was ended in an abortion clinic almost a decade prior. Would they have looked or acted alike? These are things she thought of daily.
The pro-abortion activists seek to present abortion as a clean alternative to being pregnant and giving birth. But, abortion is not a clean act. It is violent and ends in the death of a child and sometimes is accompanied by deferred despair of the mother.
