Treasurer Josh Mandel is hosting a rally in Cleveland for Senator Marco Rubio on August 5th, the day before the first presidential debate.

Mandel is also the Ohio Chairman for the Rubio for President campaign. Remember when the Ohio GOP chairman lost it because Mandel dared to support somebody other than John Kasich? Good times.

Anyway, here at 3BP we are also fans of the Florida Senator and have him at the top of our list in the crowded field of candidates.

The event is free but space is limited. You can register at this link. We hope to see you there!

  1. Personally I generally like Rubio– he has a lot going for him. But in my opinion his has made a few significant stumbles too.

About the time Rush Limbaugh started calling Marco a “real conservative” he launched into his plan with Senate democrats to do “comprehensive immigration reform”. That was a big set back for him. One of these days republicans are going to realize the ONLY reason democrats want you to do a deal with them is so that they can better screw you. Most republicans seem to remain especially dumb about that — the dumbest of all of course is John McCain.

Anyway, Rubio is smart, young and Hispanic, he is “fresh-faced” and attractive (his family too), articulate in English as well as Spanish, and has that desired “compelling” life story. He has a good sense of humor and can use it.

Marco Rubio is also effective at dealing aggressively with the hostile, liberal gotcha types in the press. Unlike many republicans Rubio does not sheepishly put his tail between his legs and act guilty when hit with some blatantly unfair/untrue criticism — Rubio gives back sharply and effectively! He is the closest to Newt in that respect.

Not to be missed is the fact that in Virginia, Colorado, and Iowa the latest Quinnipiac shows him polling significantly AHEAD of Hillary Clinton.

Marco Rubio is certainly not my ideal candidate but given the debacle we have in this country and the pathetic state the electorate is in we could certainly do a LOT worse for a standard bearer. I think he probably would beat cackling one in a general election.

  2. I’m glad to see Josh putting this event together. It’s important to show that not all Ohio Republicans want a big government authoritarian for President. If my schedule was less hectic that week I’d try to make it, even if I’m still uncertain if Rubio is my top choice.
