Ohio Dems’ hypocrisy garnering more statewide attention

For the past couple of days, we have been shining light on the hypocrisy coming from Chris Redfern and the Ohio Democratic Party.

We weren’t the only ones to notice. Released this morning from the Ohio Republican Party:

Ohio Democrats falling short of Obama’s goals days after his address

COLUMBUS- Following Barrack Obama’s swearing-in ceremony in Washington, D.C. on Monday, the President addressed the nation and said, “We cannot mistake absolutism for principle, or substitute spectacle for politics, or treat name-calling as reasoned debate. We must act, knowing that our work will be imperfect.”

However within 48 hours Ohio Democrats had completely abandoned the President’s suggestion and have spent the last two days lashing out at Debe Terhar for a link on her Facebook page that was removed and for which she immediately apologized.

“Ohio Democrats remained silent when Sherrod Brown compared John Kasich’s policies to Hitler and Stalin,” said Ohio Republican Party Chairman Bob Bennett. “They have yet to condemn State Representative Bob Hagan for lashing out at an African American on Facebook, calling him ‘Buckwheat’,” he added. “And there was no statement from the Democrats after Clayton Luckie was sentenced to jail this week for lying, stealing, and cheating while he was in office.”

“I guess the Democrats must think The President’s comments only apply to those on the other side of the aisle, and they can continue to lash out at whomever they want, whenever they want without repercussions,” said Bennett. “They took time out of their busy schedule of not saying anything about their own Party’s angry rhetoric, to attack a woman who made a simple mistake,” he added.

Democrat State Representative Clayton Luckie pleaded guilty to eight felony counts for election falsification, money laundering, and theft in office. He also pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor for filing a false ethics statement and was sentenced to three years in jail on Tuesday, January 22, 2013.

Senator Sherrod Brown compared Republican Governor John Kasich to Hitler and Stalin on the Senate floor which prompted no call for an apology from Ohio Democrat leaders in early 2011. Around the same time, Democrat State Representative Bob Hagan responded to an African American on Facebook as “Buckwheat,” and likewise no call for an apology from Ohio Democrat leaders.

Luckie collected a state paycheck for months, and Redfern never called on him to resign. But now he is actually using the Terhar “scandal” to request money. Its good to see the Republicans call out his shamelessness and push back in public. Full release is here.
