SB145 Will Force Abortion Proponents To Defend Dismembering Babies

Ohio Right to Life’s legislative agenda has the possibility to make huge strides for the pro-life movement.  The newest bill, Ohio Senate Bill 145 has the potential to save thousands of lives and completely change the narrative on abortion.

This bill seeks to ban dismemberment abortions (otherwise known as “dilation and evacuation” or “D&E” abortions) in Ohio. That will put abortion proponents on their heels by having to justify ripping a child apart limb by limb. This brutal practice accounts for 95% of second trimester abortions. To put this in perspective, 3000 of the abortions performed in 2015 in Ohio were dilation and evacuation abortions. So, this bill could save thousands of lives annually.

The pro-abortion crowd has sought to dehumanize the child in an attempt to justify ending its life. But, their tired argument about a baby just being a clump of cells no longer holds water. The prevalence of ultrasounds like the one in the video below, put that argument to rest long ago. This bill will now force them to explain why they feel it is ethical and responsible to dismember a living child.

These children deserve humane treatment because they are indeed humans. Their heartbeats and bodies prove exactly that. How is it possible to justify ripping a child’s limps off? That is the fight that NARAL and Planned Parenthood will have to make if they’re going to oppose this bill.

Pro-lifers are often referred to as “extremists” by the other side. But, this bill spins that label right around on NARAL. It will be hard for the average Ohioan to accept that the extremists are the people who are defending children from being ripped apart. This will be some very heavy-lifting for the pro-abortion crowd. Their old cliches won’t likely work on this one.

Like the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act which took effect in Ohio this March, SB 145 is part of the national strategy to end abortion. It is also written in a manner that addresses SCOTUS Justice Anthony Kennedy’s majority opinion in Gonzales v. Carhart (2007) which upheld the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban. Kennedy is a swing vote on abortion so his words in that decision are imperative.

“[F]riction causes the fetus to tear apart. For example, a leg might be ripped off the fetus…” He said, “No one would dispute that for many, D&E is a procedure itself laden with the power to devalue human life.”

VIDEO: Planned Parenthood’s Top Doctor Sells Body Parts Of Aborted Babies

Undercover video from the Center for Medical Progress has emerged of Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s Senior Director of Medical Services, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, casually discussing how she sells body parts of aborted children for added revenue for the county’s top abortion provider.

Her complete disdain for human life is on full display as she casually enjoys her wine as she speaks about avoiding crushing certain parts of the children during an abortion because she doesn’t want to harm the most profitable organs.

“I’d say a lot of people want liver. And for that reason, most providers will do this case under ultrasound guidance, so they’ll know where they’re putting their forceps. The kind of rate-limiting step of the procedure is calvarium. Calvarium—the head—is basically the biggest part.”

Nucatola explains, “We’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I’m not gonna crush that part, I’m gonna basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact.”

Nucatola also reveals that Planned Parenthood’s national office is concerned about their liability for the sale of fetal parts: “At the national office, we have a Litigation and Law Department which just really doesn’t want us to be the middle people for this issue right now,” she says. “But I will tell you that behind closed doors these conversations are happening with the affiliates.”

This is a federal felony that can result in 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $500,000, but to Planned Parenthood, the risk is well worth the reward.

The Center for Medical Progress has done a three year year long investigation into the Planned Parenthood’s trafficking of body parts. This their first video.

There are many layers of disgust to this story. Of course there is the disgust of the initial action of killing an unborn child. Add in Planned Parenthood acting as a pimp selling body parts of those discarded children. The fact that the State of Ohio gave Planned Parenthood $1.3 million in fiscal year 2014 is the equivalent to throwing a match on this fire. Taxpayers are underwriting this grotesque industry.

These children have no dignity even in death.

While most people couldn’t even think about eating or drinking while speaking of making money off the body parts of children, Planned Parenthood’s top doctor enjoys her glass of wine.

Another day, another dollar, another discarded life. She’ll just have another glass of wine.

Defending The Defenseless: Ohio Senate Passes 20 Week Abortion Ban

The United States is only one of seven countries that permits abortions after 20 weeks. The gruesome and violent killing of these children is seen as unacceptable by the vast majority of Americans, yet the practice continues. At this gestational stage, it is known that a baby can feel pain. Yet, a mother and her doctor can claim “a choice,” despite this fact, leaving a child in extreme pain for the final moments of his life as he is being destroyed because he is perceived to be nothing more than an inconvenience.

The Ohio Senate took a big step yesterday to remove Ohio off the list of places that allow these children to be sacrified, such as North Korea and China. The Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (SB 127) passed along party lines. Senator Peggy Lehner is a primary sponsor of the bill and she made a succinct point about how this legislation is common sense for anyone with compassion for the youngest of us without a voice.

“Is it too much to ask that we show any less concern for an innocent baby as they suffer excruciating pain as their life is taken at the hands of an abortionist?”

Many people who consider themselves pro-choice still are opposed to late term abortion. According to a recent poll, 84% of Americans approve banning these types of abortions. This is a unifying issue. Even with this high a percentage of people in favor of a ban, every Democrat in the Senate voted no. This reflects how beholden the Democrats are to the abortion lobby to fill their campaign coffers.

A new study points that some babies born at 22 weeks are able to survive with few health problems. Couple this with the fact that these children can feel pain and it appears we have a serious ethical dilemma that requires soul searching.

Currently, Ohio has a late term abortion ban at 24 weeks. The Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act would roll that back four more weeks and have consequences for doctors who didn’t follow the law.  Physicians would be committing a fourth degree felony if they ended the lives of these children.

Ohio Right to Life supports this legislation. In a press release, Executive Director Stephanie Krider thanks the Senate for defending innocent lives that most countries realize have value.

“With the Ohio Senate, we are leading Ohio down a historic path that is redefining the abortion debate in America,” said Stephanie Ranade Krider, executive director of Ohio Right to Life. “With this momentous vote, the Ohio Senate just approved legislation that will help Ohio catch up to the international community’s restrictions on abortion. Ohio Right to Life is grateful to Senate President Keith Faber, Chairwoman Shannon Jones, and bill sponsors Peggy Lehner and Jay Hottinger for their tremendous pro-life leadership on this legislation.”

In this current age of heightened sensitivity to how others feel and what offends them, it is amazing that this debate even needs to occur.  The extreme left and the dissenting nine Senators are more concerned with hurting someone’s feelings than with the feeling of extreme pain these children feel as their lives are being taken.

The Ohio Senate recognizes these children need protection that the current law does not afford. If a child is born at this stage, it is obvious to his medical professionals and parents that he certainly can feel pain. So, how can anyone justify dismembering them in the name of choice?

According to the Department of Health, almost every day a child at this stage of life is terminated.  Hopefully the Ohio House will quickly take up this legislation and send it over to Governor Kasich to sign. Those babies can’t wait another day.

Pro-Abortion Activists Stomp On The Unborn

Abortion rights activists gathered on the steps of the Ohio Statehouse yesterday to protest abortion restrictions. Instead of making a clear case, they only demonstrated they are tone deaf.

These women brought hundreds of pairs of shoes in an attempt to say that state legislators are “stepping” on their rights. What they failed to recognize is to the average person those ownerless shoes symbolize the children whose lives were snuffed out by abortion, the very act these women are championing.

Abortion is big business. In 2013 alone, 213, 216 children’s lives were taken in the name of choice in Ohio. There is money to be made from ending children’s lives. And there are campaign donations to be received by pro-abortion legislators.

Pro-abortion activists like to tidy up the violence of abortion by spinning it as a choice. But they choose to ignore that abortion hurts many women. All decisions come at a cost and many women later are burdened by their decisions.

What is lost among these women’s poorly scripted and coordinated boos is the fact that abortion hurts women. Many women are simply exchanging the “convenience” of abortion with the guilt of that decision later on in their lives. That deferred pain is real to these women.

I am not ashamed to say I am pro-life. I was vocally opposed to abortion as soon as I realized what it is. Because of this, women sometimes seek me out to confess they had an abortion years prior. These women are not so much saddled with the stigma, but they are consumed with guilt years later. This is something I never expected when I was young, but these women who have spoken with me seem to want their pain to be acknowledged by someone who advocated for their child’s life. Their pain is as real as the tears which burst from their eyes as they attempt to come to terms with their decisions.

One woman told me after she married and gave birth for the first time she realized what she had done to her own child in the name of choice. She was burdened with the thought that her love for her child was conditional. It was conditional to the timing of conception and finances. This was very hard for her overcome. She stated that when she looked at her child she was reminded of the one whose life was ended in an abortion clinic almost a decade prior. Would they have looked or acted alike? These are things she thought of daily.

The pro-abortion activists seek to present abortion as a clean alternative to being pregnant and giving birth. But, abortion is not a clean act. It is violent and ends in the death of a child and sometimes is accompanied by deferred despair of the mother.

Remind me again. Who is being stepped on?

OH Legislature Seeks To Stop Selective Abortion Of Unborn Diagnosed With Down Syndrome

New legislation introduced in the Ohio House of Representatives could make Ohio the first state in the nation to stop targeted abortions specifically on unborn children with Down Syndrome. Studies show that currently 90 percent of children with Down Syndrome lose their lives to abortion.

People with Down Syndrome have a very joyful, positive and contagious outlook at life.  Ninety nine percent of them state they are happy with their lives. No other demographic reports such high satisfaction with their lives.

Ohio Right to Life’s Down Syndrome Non-Discrimination Act (H.B. 135) has sixteen co-sponsors, giving it a healthy chance of becoming law. Protecting the unborn is an important issue to Sarah LaTourette (R – Bainbridge Township) who is a sponsor of this bill.

“Sadly, many women turn to abortion when they discover their unborn child might have Down syndrome,” said Rep. Sarah LaTourette. “Having worked in the adoption field, I know firsthand that there are plenty of alternatives to abortion that respect the value of life. I am proud to introduce legislation that will end this horrific form of discrimination. This is a small step in ensuring the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all individuals – not just the ‘perfect’ or the born.”

Seven year old Dylan Magyar is the youngest of four boys.  Dylan is a skier and a wrestler. He also has Down Syndrome.  He brings an added joy to his family.  Jason, his father, can’t imagine life without him.

“We found out at 13 weeks that Dylan was going to have DS. It left us searching for answers and researching DS to the point of nausea. Once Dylan was born and the older Dylan gets, one thing is clear. He certainly has made our family stronger, more happy and more open minded. He is our glue and backbone. I definitely was not looking or hoping for a child with DS when we were pregnant. But, if we could go back in time, under no circumstances would I ever change the fact that Dylan has DS. His life has as much value as anyone else’s.”

Tim Ryan Looks For Cheap Hook-Up; Now Says Life Is Disposable

Congressman Tim Ryan wrote a column in the Akron Beacon Journal in which he announced that he went from defending the unborn to being completely fine with abortion. There has to be a reason behind this change of heart on this very important position. Someone just doesn’t respect life, and then turn around and feel it is no longer valuable.

Let’s be honest here. Tim Ryan is likely looking for a cheap hookup with Democratic primary voters at the statewide level. And he can’t score with them as a devout and practicing Catholic. So, he sold the unborn out for some easy action and possible donations from Emily’s List.

In his column, Ryan strangely mentions his son when declaring he no longer feels lives of children to be of value.

“On June 12, 2014, my wife and I were blessed when our son, Brady Zetts Ryan, came into the world. With the birth of this healthy baby boy, our lives were forever changed. I’m mindful that my wife and I were fortunate enough to bring Brady into a prepared family full of love and devotion.”

What the Congressman said is that Brady was lucky. He was lucky that his parents were prepared for him. But according to Ryan, the birth of Brady made him realize that babies created by irresponsible, unprepared people don’t deserve the “privilege” of life. And if the Ryans weren’t prepared, would his life have been disposable? Brady deserved the privilege of life. But Ryan now feels there are other babies that don’t, because their parents aren’t “prepared” and don’t want them around. Disposing of these lives is now acceptable to Ryan.

Ryan mentions the “the heavy hand of government” being involved in women’s lives. But, he favors the heavy hand of government as an Obamacare supporter. The burdensome regulations and requirements of that albatross of legislation has left many women with health insurance plans they can no longer afford and that don’t meet their needs.

Ryan only seems concerned with the heavy hand of government when it prevents babies from being suctioned to death.

Pro Lifers feel used by politicians like Ryan and Renee Elmers, who get elected on their values and then suddenly toss them to the side when convenient for their political careers.  Ohio Right to Life President Mike Gonidakis called out Congressman Ryan for selling out his values.

“Congressman Ryan’s flip-flop on abortion clearly demonstrates his opportunistic and self centered approach in seeking higher office. By callously and carelessly tossing aside his so-called strong Catholic upbringing and pro-life beliefs to now support abortion, sadly proves yet again that politicians will say anything and do anything to get elected or climb the political ladder. It is no wonder why Congress has the lowest approval rating in our nation’s history.

Of course, Ryan was proudly “pro-life” while easily getting re-elected in an otherwise gerrymandered district. But now as he seeks higher office, which we assume will be a challenge to pro-life Senator Rob Portman, he chooses to abandon those who helped him get elected in the first place. Most alarming to all Ohioans, both pro-life and pro-choice, is that if he is willing to easily flip-flop on the fundamental issue of a baby’s life, what would he do with every other issue which faces our nation.”

Ryan has proven that he is a sell out. He will flip his position on the defense of life, which he claimed to have held his entire life because he covets a Senate seat. Ryan has made himself available to the highest bidder.

It’s The Grand Old Party: Everybody Should Be Invited

“The person who agrees with you 80 percent of the time is a friend and an ally — not a 20 percent traitor.” – Ronald Reagan

Reagan-Berlin serious

Not too long ago Cleveland Right to Life broadened the scope of its mission to be opposed to gay marriage. This left me scratching my head. Why would a single issue group chose to narrow the base of its support? If the objective is to prevent abortions, why would it matter if a donor or activist supported gay marriage?

Cleveland hosted the Gay Games last week. The Republican Party of Cuyahoga County had a booth at the Games to welcome attendees and athletes to Cleveland and to also to let them know they are welcome in the Republican Party.

Cleveland Right to Life sent out an email to protest the RPCC’s involvement.

“The not so “Gay Games” have entered their 5th day in downtown Cleveland. Last Sunday the Cuyahoga County Republican Party announced their participation at these sad and melancholy games to show their approval of this lifestyle as part of a supposed “big tent” approach. REALLY! Have they forgotten that with good reason, the majority of Ohio citizens do not approve of or support the homosexual lifestyle?”

You don’t win people over to your cause by ignoring them. You also don’t make new friends by using words that are curt and judgmental. I have friends on both sides of the aisle of the marriage debate.

I understand being for traditional marriage does not define someone as being judgmental. It is possible to oppose gay marriage and still welcome gay conservatives into the party. This email does not accomplish this.

Not only does CRTL oppose gay marriage, but the email states it has a problem with the overall “homosexual lifestyle.” I am a lifelong pro life advocate. I was involved with CRTL. But the tone of that email pushed me to unsubscribe from future emails.  I will likely instead support Ohio Right to Life whose single mission is to save the unborn.  That means more people advocating for life.

If Cleveland Right to Life wants to increase its advocacy for the unborn, it should take a page out of Ronald Reagan’s book and follow his 80/20 rule. Having supporters and elected officials who disagree with you 20% of the time is better than those who disagree with you 80% of the time.

The Gay Games were not a rally for abortion rights. They weren’t a week long gay marriage ceremony. They were a celebration of community and athleticism. And that is exactly where the RPCC should have been to welcome them to the big tent.

It’s a simple realization that you increase your support by welcoming more people.

People from all walks of life can get behind the smaller government principles of the Republican Party. And that is why the Republican Party was right to be at the Gay Games.

Liberal Hypocrisy Extends to Death

Ohio Rep. Bob Hagan (D) wants the Governor to witness each Ohio execution.  Hagan’s hypocrisy knows no bounds.   He is vocal about supporting the lives of criminals who are afforded due process, but sees an unborn child as disposable and not worthy of the chance to live.

Ohio Right to Life called out Hagan’s hypocrisy and suggested that Hagan and his fellow pro-choice legislators be forced to watch each abortion.

“If you believe witnessing an execution will bring great shame to an elected official or perhaps alter their support for such penalty, then we must seek an additional piece of legislation requiring you and pro- choice politicians to witness each and every abortion in Ohio.

A few years ago, you refused to watch the ultrasound of a live, pre-born baby at the Statehouse. I doubt you would be able to stomach the grisly practices by which your politics would allow that life to be ended. “

Hagan refused to watch an ultrasound.  Yet, he thinks Governor Kasich should be forced to watch each and every execution.   Can Hagan not recognize his hypocrisy or does he just not understand what the word means?

In 2012, Bishop George Murry told Mercy College School of Nursing to disinvite Hagan as the school commencement speaker.  Hagan responded by saying, “I am one disappointed Catholic.”  Why does Bob consider himself to be a Catholic when he works against and condemns the Church’s views? Hypocrisy, that’s why.  Bob is a hypocrite.

Hagan set the stage for his public display of hypocrisy by promoting this legislation, HB 445.  Perhaps the bill should be amended to include Ohio Right to Life’s suggestion and passed out of committee.  Then we could see how much Bob Hagan values life.

Pelosi, Biden To Visit New Pope

Pelosi Biden To Vist New Pope

Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden and a contingent of others will be attending Pope Francis’s Inaugural mass on Tuesday, March 19th. Some pundits can’t understand why some Catholics have a problem with that.

This quote from Pope Benedict XVI should help clear it up:

“the fundamental human right, the presupposition of every other human right, is the right to life itself. This is true of life from the moment of conception to its natural end. Abortion, consequently, cannot be a human right – it is the very opposite.”
